“Daddy Daughter” Kinetic Sculpture

My youngest daughter came home from college for the summer and wanted to learn more about working metal. We created a tiny paper maquette that twirled in a breeze.

From there we explored possible materials on hand beginning with an old hinge. Both forms were cut with the same template using sheets of copper and steel.

The two forms spin in a strong wind with the point always facing toward the last strong wind.
