Old World Craftmanship

Combining old-world craftsmanship with contemporary design, I specialize in creating unique art pieces distinguished by intricate designs. Drawing inspiration from nature, materials, and commissioned projects alike, my creations are distinguished by intricate designs and handcrafted processes. Utilizing metals such as silver, copper, and steel, alongside semi-precious stones, I infuse each piece with a unique essence. Having sold work at art shows around the country for twenty years, I bring a wealth of experience and a passion for metalworking to every piece I create.

With over four decades of experience in metal arts, I hold a Master’s of Art in studio art and art education from Northern Arizona University. Embracing a philosophy of lifelong learning, I am deeply involved in teaching and participating in workshops across Arizona. Notably, I dedicated many years to teaching metal arts and jewelry at Yavapai Community College in Prescott, Arizona.

In my view, the primary distinction between jewelry and sculpture lies in scale. However, both disciplines demand meticulous attention to detail, edges, and finish to achieve a refined outcome.

About Old World Techniques

Incorporating both Eastern and Western traditions, I showcase age-old techniques steeped in the artistry of metalsmithing, seamlessly bridging from jewelry to large-scale sculpture. Through images and text, I define the intricate hand processes inherent in my craft, offering a visual journey into the heart of my work. Alongside tools and methods, I emphasize the importance of creating one's own tools, a practice that not only refines craftsmanship but also pays homage to the enduring legacy of the craft.
